The Basque name of the house, ‘Errecaldia,’ means ‘river view’, since it’s construction in 1673 events have overtaken names. The views from the terrace across the valley, the town of St Jean Pied de Port and to the Irouleguy vineyards on the hill of Arradoy are stunning, but the river itself is now obscured by various buildings.
